EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

'Opportunities for All'

Our children have a wide range of clubs and activities they can join in with. We encourage all our children to take part in some clubs and activities as part of our 'Opportunities for All' programme, as this really enhances their education and may enable them to discover a new hobby or develop an interest or skill.  We regularly ask the children which clubs might be of interest to them, so that we can match the provision to their interests. Some of these are before school or after school, others are run during the lunch breaks.  Our own school staff lead many of the clubs but some of our extra curricular clubs are led by coaches and sports leaders.

Almost all our clubs are free of charge for our children, however we do have a club which is chargeable to parents as they are privately run. e.g. through Milligan & McCann.

We have a wide range of clubs on offer to children.  These have included:

  • Eco Club
  • Baking Club
  • Choir
  • Boys Football Club
  • Girls Football Club
  • Netball (mixed)
  • STEM LEGO league club
  • Gardening club
  • Cookery Club
  • Nature Club
  • Chess Club
  • Coding Club
  • Arts & Crafts Club
  • Book Club
  • Maths Club including TimesTables Rock Stars
  • Science Club
  • French Club
  • Craft Cllub
  • Dance Club

We encourage and signpost  our children to join in with wider activites in sports, music and other areas.

Fylde Music Centre at St Bede’s - Tuesdays 4pm – 7pm

We are very fortunate to have a Lancashire Schools Music Centre based so close to us in the local area.  They have a wide range of musical activities and ensembles which your child can access, mostly with no prior experience:

  • 'Little Beatz' 4.00pm - 4.30pm (for young children, 3years +)
  • 'Ukulele Group' 4.30pm - 5.30pm (all ages and stages)
  • 'Beginner Band' 4.45pm - 5.15pm (all ages and stages)
  • 'Senior Band' 4.00pm - 4.45pm (for players around grade 2 standard)
  • 'Senior String Group' 5.30pm - 6pm (for players around grade 2 standard)
  • 'Beatlab' (creative music tech) 4.45pm - 5.15pm (limited places – enquire!)
  • 'Young Voices' choir 5.15pm - 5.45pm (all stages, approx. 7 years +)
  • 'Rock Band' 6.30pm - 7.30pm (all ages and stages)

To access the senior groups or beginner band, children need to be having lessons on their chosen instrument (lessons can be anywhere, not necessarily at centre). Beginner band is suitable from their first tutored lesson.

Please do come along to the centre to try out one or all of our groups.

Ensembles cost just £30 per term; this fee covers access to ALL of our groups at centre as well as the "Inspire" ensembles that run at alternative times.

If you would like to know more, please see our website and Facebook pages – search 'Fylde Music Centre'. Register your interest / book onto lessons or ensembles via this website.

If you have any questions, please ask in school or contact the lead teacher for the centre, Gemma Wiseman, using these details.  Email: gemma.wiseman@lancashire.gov.uk

Our School Choir enjoy singing together and often entertain others. They love to go out Carol Singing at Chrsitams in the local area - at the library, at some of the local Rest and Care homes too.

Some of our KS2 children really enjoyed their sessions in Cookery Club. The smells each week were amazing!  They learned to cook some great meals which were nutritious, delicious and not too expensive.
