Autumn Term message from Miss Grove:

A Warm Welcome to Year 2!

Hello and a big welcome back after the summer holidays! I hope you all had a wonderful rest and are ready for an exciting Autumn Term in Year 2.

This term, Year 2 have some fascinating topics ahead of them. In History, we’ll be learning out about significant people from the past and how they have shaped the world we live in today. In Science, we’ll begin by exploring Habitats and the amazing places where animals live.

Reading is a really important part of Year 2 and central to children’s learning. We’ll continue to build on the skills developed in Year 1 and enjoy a wide variety of books together.

In Maths, we’ll focus on Place Value, and practice number facts daily. Our English lessons will take us on exciting adventures with two fantastic texts: Wolves and Jim and the Beanstalk.

You’ll also find our Knowledge Organisers linked below. These give an overview of the key learning for this term in subjects including History, Science, Art, RE and PE.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—I’m always happy to help.

Here’s to a brilliant year of learning, exploring and growing together in Year 2!

Thank you for your support,

Miss Grove

A 'Royal' Visit

Posted: Jun 29, 2025 by: K Warburton (K.Warburton) on: Year 2 Blog

Our classroom was full of royalty on Thursday when Year 2 dressed up as kings and queens for the day! Linked to our History topic, 'Magnificent Monarchs, we were visited by Mr Worrell who taught us all about the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II. The children were lucky enough to look at and hold many artefacts linked to these monarchs to bring their learning to life! We made comparisons between the monarchs and reflected on similarities and differences between life now and life in the Elizabethan and New Elizabethan periods.
