Message from Miss Melling:
Hello! I am looking forward to working in Year 4 at St Thomas' in the Summer Term. I will be teaching the class each day and am looking forward to getting to know you all. I worked at St Thomas' a few years ago, so I already feel like I know lots about the school and many of the staff too - it's good to be back!
We have an exciting term ahead with lots to do and learn. I'm sure the children will LOVE learning about the Ancient Egyptians - it's just fascinating. We will be going on a school trip to learn all about it - unfortunately we are NOT going to Egypt ... instead, we are going to Bolton Museum to find out more.
Times tables! Times tables! Times tables!
In June, all Year 4 children across England will complete the Multiplication Times tables Check. We are working really hard to learn all our Timestables and be as accurate as we can. The children have been making brillinat progress with this on Times Tables Rock Stars. LOADS of the children have 'Gone Green' and can answer all the times tables questions in less than 5 seconds! WOW!
Keep on practising timetables at every opportunity. Whether it is reciting them in the car, in the bath or on the way home. Please also support the work in school and play on Times Tables Rockstars (Garage) for at least 5 minutes every day. We will also be continuing to learn the times tables in class.
Please see the PowerPoint below for more information about the Times Tables Check, for more information .
To find out what our class will be learning in the next term, please have a look at our 'Knowledge Organisers' linked below. These contain our key learning in Geography, Science, French, DT, Music and PSHE.
At St Thomas' we LOVE to read. Have a look at Year 4's 50 recommended reads below. What will you read next?
Please also keep working on reading and spelling ALL the words on teh Statutory Words list for Y3 & 4. All children in England are expected to be able tread AND spell all these words by the end of Year 4. Thank you for the help and support you give to your children with their learning - it really does make a big difference!
If you have any questions - please do not hesitate to ask - I am happy to help!
